A lot of people on dA seem to want pageviews, favs, watchers, or whatever...it really all seems to do something with wanting to be "popular"

...I don't think people should be drawing just for popularity... yes, maybe if they make a living off making art and have an actual job with it and their actual life depended on it (like food, water, shelter)...but the plain fact is that on dA most people draw as a hobby. So shouldn't hobby drawing be for fun and not to get "adoring fans"?

I mean yeah, it's nice to know people like your art, and yes it does make you feel good...I'm no different...but some people actually seem to be driven to draw only for popularity, whether they are popular already or not...

Actually I've seen some artist _{(no names >:0 )} say they'll stop drawing cause they "don't have enough fans" ...so it kind of makes me wonder if they only create art to be loved/adored? 0~0; What happened to making art for things like enjoyment or stress relief? Isn't that how true art should be for? ;^;

I think a true artist looks past popularity and continues for enjoyment... I personally don't count those artists that only draw for popularity as actual artists, no matter how "good" their art is...

...but this is just my opinion though... You can disagree or agree, everyone has their own opinions~ so let's all respect everyone's opinions; me and you together~ ^u^

oh men! you have so right x(! most people just draw for fame and popularity! I hate that totally! I myself also draw, because it makes me fun! and so it should be! one should dream his fantasy, and bring ideas to the sheet because you love the art! and not for fame!

This is an example of the "No true scot man" fallacy; what art and an artist is will never be universally agreed on.

Anyhow, this stamp expresses that people should draw / write / etc. for fun instead of popularity. It's okay if you want to become somewhat famous, but it'd get boring really quick if it was your main goal.
